Care Guide for Silk
How to Wash and Care for Your Lenoites Silk Products
Our 100% Mulberry silk products are naturally antibacterial, breathable, and luxurious. To keep your silk pillowcases and accessories in their best condition, follow our complete care guide below.
Washing Instructions (Machine or Hand Wash)
Lenoites silk can be gently washed either by hand or in the washing machine using a delicate/silk cycle.
Tips for best results:
- Water temperature: Always use cold water, preferably 30°C, and never more than 40°C. The colder, the better for silk fibers.
- Protect your silk: Use a mesh laundry bag to prevent snags from zippers, hooks or buttons.
-
Detergent: Choose a mild, enzyme-free detergent specially formulated for delicate fabrics.
We recommend Y3, available in most grocery stores. - Avoid: Bleach, fabric softeners, and harsh chemicals they weaken silk and reduce its lifespan.
Wash with similar colors and turn pillowcases inside out before washing.
Drying Instructions
- Silk does not like heat – skip the dryer!
- Air dry flat or hang in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight.
- Do not tumble dry.
- Dry cleaning is not necessary if you follow these instructions.
Ironing Silk
- Silk wrinkles easily, but is also easy to smooth out with proper care.
- Use your iron’s “silk” setting or a steamer.
- For best results, iron while the fabric is still slightly damp or use a press cloth to prevent shine.
- Never iron on high heat.
Removing Stains from Silk
If your silk item gets stained:
- Soak it in cold water as soon as possible.
- Gently dab the stain with mild detergent – never rub!
- Rinse thoroughly and air dry.
Avoid letting stains sit for too long, as they may set permanently.
Tip: If you use self-tanner or skincare products that may discolor fabric, consider choosing darker-colored silk pillowcases or accessories.
