Silk Pillowcases: Are They Worth It?

The most important thing in my opinion when buying a silk pillowcase is the quality. At least if you are looking for a pillowcase that looks great both today and in the future, also with sustainability in mind. So the most important thing is that it is made of 100% pure silk and that the momme is high. Momme defines the thickness of the fabric and the amount of silk. The higher the momme the higher amount of silk, which also means higher quality. Thread density is also important. Lenoites have a wire density of 6A, which gives a high quality and an intense density. There are also different qualities of mulberry silk just as there are different qualities of cotton. Quality depends on how it is made and which supplier of mulberry silk is used. Lenoites quality is magical and truly the finest silk fabric I have put my hands on. They are also OEKO-TEX standard 100 certified, which means that it is approved for infants and babies. You can let a newbprn baby rest on the pillowcase and it will be completely non-poisonous and chemical-free. In addition, the production has taken place under good working conditions, which I think is very important.

But is a pillowcase worth 900 SEK? It depends on what you prioritize. Some people who sleep on a special side, for example, may notice that the hair on the side that usually lies against the cotton pillow is shorter and more weak. This is because the hair has been rubbed against the cotton pillowcase. If you spend more than a thousand crowns for a visit to a hairdresser, 900 SEK is definitely worth it to keep your hair nice until the next visit to the hairdresser. In addition, the pillow does not absorb moisture from your hair, resulting in shinier hair.

Not just hair - the skin feels very good against the silk. If you put your head against a cotton pillow, the cotton will absorb the skin's moisture. If you spend money on serums and night creams, your skin will not be able to keep the ingredients of the products for a long time. I felt like I was throwing away my money, so I started searching about what to do and then found that silk pillowcase is the solution to my problem. Silk does not absorb moisture, which means that the pillow is always dry but at the same time moisturizing and smooth for your skin.

I also had a problem with always waking up with wrinkles. Those problems are far gone now. I NEVER have a sleep wrinkle. In addition, silk is moisture-, dust- and dirt-repellent, which means that mold and mites does not thrive. That is why many people with allergies or sensitive skin use silk pillowcases.

So again - is a pillowcase worth SEK 900?

It depends on what you think is worth! I personally have bought many cheaper silk pillowcases in my life and got dissapointed and tired of the bad quality. They were thin and not glossy at all. It ended up being more expensive in the end than if I had bought the "right" pillowcase from the beginning.

It can be compared to different fruits from different suppliers. An apple is an apple just like a silk pillowcase is a silk pillowcase and there are cheaper and more expensive apples. Some people think that budget apples are perfect and others want to pay more to buy an organic apple that is made non-toxic and under good working conditions. And when we talk about apples, there are different kinds of apples, just as there are different kinds of silk. The difference between an apple and silk pillowcase, is that you eat the apple. The difference between a hair treatment and silk pillowcase, is that the hair grows out eventually. However, you have the pillowcase for many, many years. So if you ask me, it's worth it all the time! Coming from someone who has bought MANY silk pillowcases and finally found a home.

My favorite color is beige or white. The white is perfectly white and matches with all shades of white so you never have to be afraid of it cutting itself. Rose gold is also absolutely magical !! Then the green is also absolutely wonderful… yes you see. I can not decide… 🙂
